Shortly before 7pm Friday night Pittsfield Police and first responders were called to the 300 block of Cheshire Road due to a head on collision.

According to the Berkshire Eagle, One man and two women were hospitalized with serious injuries.

One driver from Brainard, N.Y., was traveling northbound on Route 8, the Cheshire Road and according to Pittsfield Police, "for reasons unknown at this time" crossed the double yellow line and collided with a Toyota.  Both sedans were seriously damaged. The Saturn's door had to be removed to extricate the driver.

Two occupants of the Toyota, both from Adams were taken by ambulance to a hospital with "serious, possibly life-threatening injuries," according to Pittsfield Police officer James McIntyre.

A portion of Cheshire Road was temporarily closed while police and rescuers responded. The cause of the collision remains under investigation, any witnesses are asked to assist in the investigation by calling Pittsfield Police at 413-448-9700, ext. 341.
