Western Mass Man Arrested For Kidnapping, Rape In New York
A 31-year-old Western Massachusetts man was arrested on Friday by New York State Police on charges of kidnapping and raping a woman in Beekmantown, New York.
MassLive is reporting that Michael A. Ramos-Perez of Palmer, Massachusetts has been arrested for allegedly abducting and forcibly raping a woman walking along a road in Beekmantown on Thursday evening.
New York State Police say Ramos-Perez forced the victim into a van around 6:15 p.m. Thursday evening, drove a short distance, parked, raped the woman(who remains unidentified), then released her.
Ramos-Perez was charged with:
- Rape, First-Degree
- Kidnapping, Second-Degree
- Criminal Mischief, Fourth-Degree, and
- Criminal Sexual Act, First-Degree, two counts
After being arraigned in the Town of Beekmantown Court, Ramos-Perez was remanded to the Clinton County Jail in lieu of $65,000 cash bail, or $175,000 bond.
