Celebrity sightings are pretty regular here in The Berkshires. James Taylor, Meryl Streep, even Oscar-winning actor Susan Sarandon is building a hilltop home just across the Massachusetts border, in Stamford Vermont.

I think the reason we get so many celebrities migrating to the Berkshires and the surrounding area is that they are treated like normal people, not celebrities.

We now have another celebrity buying property that has visited the southern part of Vermont many times with different family members to go skiing and have some downtime.

This time it is Alec Baldwin and his wife, who have bought a historic farm of about 50 acres, near the town of Arlington which is right outside of Bennington. Baldwin paid $1,750.000 for the three-bedroom three-bath farmhouse and property on Ice Pond Road. This information on the home is of public record.

Alec Baldwin’s wife Hilaria has family ties to the area. Plus, Baldwin and his wife and kids visited Northshire back in October.

They got to know the area a bit better due to the unfortunate circumstances that occurred while Baldwin was filming the movie “Rust”

The prop gun that was given to him had a live round in it. Baldwin, supposedly, pulled the trigger causing the death of the cinematographer working on the set.

The Associated Press reported on Feb. 15 that the family of the cinematographer killed on the set has sued Baldwin and the movie’s producers, alleging “callous” disregard in the face of safety complaints led directly to her death.
