A 124 Year Old Tradition Has Been Canceled
Sad News for runners and lovers of the Boston Marathon.
The Boston Marathon is officially canceled. That ends a 124-year run that remained untouched by two World Wars, a volcanic eruption, and even a pandemic early in the 20th Century.
The race was originally postponed from April 20th to September 14th, but the city decided even that date wasn't going to work.
However, there will be a virtual race, where runners who verify that they ran 26.2 miles on their own will receive a finisher's medal.
