You will still be able to get your favorite tacos, Taco Bell is moving but not too far, a new Taco Bell will be opening next year on Dalton Avenue.

The Berkshire Eagle reports after a discussion about pavement, shade trees and parking, the Pittsfield City Council unanimously approved a special permit last week for the new restaurant.

The drive-thru restaurant will be 2,700 square feet with seating for 50 diners, pending final approval by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation,

It will be built right next door to MedExpress Urgent Care, and the Taco Bell in Berkshire Crossing will close.

Developers are hoping to break ground on the restaurant in the fall, that would place the project on track to open to diners sometime in middle to late 2021.

City Councilor Nicholas Caccamo proposed a number of special conditions that were added to the developer's plans, including planting six native shade trees on the property and the use of down-casting light to illuminate outdoor signage, rather than the originally proposed back-lit signs.
