They have started out strong, I am talking about "Berkshire Pay It Forward" which is a committee of volunteers, formed by members of Local 12325 of the United Steelworkers Union, who have mobilized to support and provide nutritious meals to families who have been rendered unemployed by COVID-19 layoffs.

Their first meal giveaway was at Whorles this past Saturday, the group had prepared 50 meals but wasn't able to distribute them all. Distribution began earlier than expected when people began arriving an hour before the event's scheduled 2 p.m. start.

Berkshire Pay It Forward is collecting donations to cover the cost of food at their planned Community Meal events, which will provide prepackaged meals to community members in need.

Their second pop up event is scheduled to take place this Saturday, May 2nd, 1-3pm at the Home Depot, Wal-Mart entrance, 555 Hubbard Ave, Pittsfield. They will have prepackaged frozen meals to hand out to families facing unemployment due to COVID-19 layoffs. Available on first come first serve basis.

Each package contains 4 servings of Pork Ribs, Sour cream Potatoes, mixed vegetables, and dessert. **FREE OF CHARGE**

In order to maintain proper social distancing and safety protocol, meals will be prepackaged and ready for drive up pick up; all volunteers will be wearing masks and gloves.

Berkshire Pay It Forward is asking those who are able to donate to this cause. No amount is too little or too much. The more money we raise the more families they can help. With your continued donations, they can make a difference together, Paying it Forward.
