A man facing life imprisonment for a Pittsfield shooting death will remain in custody, despite his attorney’s claim that confinement amid the pandemic hurts her ability to put together a defense.

The Berkshire Eagle reports that Judge Maureen Hogan rejected a request from Gary Linen last week that he be eligible for bail. The 40-year-old Linen is accused of firing the shot that struck bystander, Asiyanna Jones, in October of 2017.

Jones, 22, was sitting in a car on Dewey Avenue in Pittsfield; she died three hours later at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
