On December 3rd at approximately 0400 hours midnight shift officers responded to Cumberland Farms on Commercial Street for a burglar alarm activation called in by the alarm company.

Upon arrival, responding officers observed that the alarm from the building was sounding, and the door to the business had been forced open. Officers also observed that there were fresh footprints in the snow leading away from the business.

Officers secured the area and requested that the department’s K9 respond to the scene. The department K9 responded and conducted a track from the store to an area nearby which had indicated that the suspect fled in a vehicle.

The Adams Police Department has been reviewing video surveillance from the business and it appears that the subject was possibly masked at the time of the incident and ran away from the scene when the audible alarm had sounded. Surveillance video from a residential security camera, in fact, shows that the party had both arrived and left in a vehicle.

Patrol officers are still actively investigating this case and we encourage anyone who saw someone leaving the area around this time, or has a home surveillance camera that may have someone entering or leaving the area to contact the police department. Special interest is anyone who has surveillance footage in the Commercial Street, Edmund Street, or Crandall Street area.

We also encourage anyone who hears of someone bragging about this incident to their friends or recognizes the vehicle from a previous incident to contact the police department.
