
Busy Weekend In Bennington For Burglaries
It seems like every place has been getting its share of Break-ins and Robberies lately.
The Easter weekend was no exception for Bennington, On Saturday, April 3, 2021 at approximately 20:44hrs, Bennington Police were dispatched to People’s United Bank located at 37 Bennington Square Bennington, Vermont. This was for a report of an alarm activation. Responding officers determined that someone did break into the bank, but the person/s had fled prior to police arrival. Entry had been made, but nothing appeared to have been stolen.
While investigating the burglary at the People’s United Bank, police were dispatched to Bennington Beverage Outlet located at 125 Northside Drive. This was for another report of an alarm activation. Officers arrived and determined that someone had attempted to break into the business. Witnesses nearby at the time heard glass breaking and observed a male running from the scene. The suspect didn’t gain entry.
Vermont State Police K-9 assisted with tracking the suspect who ran from the Bennington Beverage Outlet, but the track was lost. Bennington Police were able to develop a suspect based on surveillance videos and the method of the two burglaries. Officers attempted to locate the male at his residence, but they were not able to locate him.
Three more burglaries were reported throughout the night and into Sunday morning.
On Sunday, April 4, 2021, at 00:29hrs, Bennington Police were dispatched to a residence on Monument Avenue, Old Bennington, Vt. This was for a report from the homeowner of glass being broken.
The homeowner, who was home asleep at the time, woke to the sound of glass being broken. The homeowner went downstairs and discovered a broken sliding glass door and a “dark figure” running away from the residence. Officers were unable to locate the suspect. Nothing was stolen from the residence.
