A man police believe is a major drug supplier to the Northern Berkshires is in custody in Vermont after being arrested Friday at a Williamstown motel.

The Berkshire Eagle reports that according to police, 22-year-old Edwin Morales had evaded authorities in recent months despite investigators’ seizure of about 6,000 bags of heroin, 100 grams of cocaine, nine firearms and thousands of dollars in cash from people and residences connected to him.

Morales was arrested early Friday morning by local police and agents with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, who tracked Morales and his girlfriend to the Cozy Corner Motel. He was returned to Vermont, where he is being held on a federal arrest warrant out of Burlington.
