Police believe it was former NFL Defensive Back Phillip Adams who shot and killed three adults and two children yesterday, according to an article from AP posted by MassLive.com. A sixth person was also shot and is in serious condition with gunshot wounds. Adams played six games with the Patriots in 2011.

According to the report, four of the victims were from the same family. A medical doctor that had treaded Adams in the past, the doctor’s wife and their two young grandchildren. Police were called to the Rock Hill area home around 4:45 yesterday afternoon where they found the victims.  Pronounced dead at the scene were Dr. Robert Lesslie, his wife Barbara Lesslie and their grandchildren Adah who was 9 and Noah who was 5. A man believed to have been working at the Lesslie’s home, 38-year-old James Lewis, was shot and killed outside the residence. Another unidentified person survived the attack and is fighting for their life with serious gunshot wounds according to the AP article. A search for the suspect carried on into the early hours of today before police located Adams in a nearby home, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Dr. Lesslie was a prominent doctor who wrote over a dozen books including “Angels in the ER” according to a report on WSOC-TV. Lesslie was a physician who spent over 25-years in the ER.

The murder, Phillip Adam’s, started his pro football career with the 49ers in 2010 and played for the Patriots, Seahawks, Raiders, Jets, and Falcons before his career ended in 2015. Coach Bill Belichick cut Adams late November of 2011, prior to the Patriots Super Bowl appearance against the N.Y. Giants.

The case remains under investigation.
