A head on collision on South Church Street in North Adams has claimed the life of a 77 year old Adams man.

The driver, whose name is being withheld at this time, of a Nissan sedan apparently crossed the center line at the Hodges Cross Road and collided with another car.  The driver of the 2005 Nissan was extricated from the car and taken to Berkshire Medical Center in North Adams.  A passenger in the Nissan and the two people in the other car were taken to BMC in Pittsfield reportedly with serious injuries.

According to iBerkshires.com, the crash happened Sunday night around 9:00pm.  According to Police Lt. Jason Wood, there did not appear to be any negligence or any indication that speed, alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash. Police are leaning toward a medical incident as the cause, he said.  Wood reported the Massachusetts State Police accident reconstruction team was called in to investigate the crash.
