
Hit And Run Suspect Of An Elderly Woman At Walmart Has Been Arrested
Bennington Police and Bennington Rescue personnel responded to the Walmart parking lot located on Northside Drive for a reported car/pedestrian motor vehicle crash. The incident occurred on Monday, January 10, at about 2:44 pm, the person who was hit was an elderly woman.
The suspect left the vehicle and tried to lift the victim. When he could not lift her, he dropped her back onto the ground, leaving her lying in the cold, and fled the scene. Walmart surveillance footage was able to capture the incident and shows a newer model white SUV vehicle striking an elderly female with the front end of the car.
Bennington Police have secured an arrest warrant out of Vermont Superior Court-Bennington Criminal Division for the charges of Leaving the Scene of a Crash-Serious Injury and Aggravated Assault.
Bentley is also wanted by the Vermont Department of Corrections for a Probation Violation.
Bennington Police arrested Grant G. Bentley on 1-25-22 at the Southgate Motel located at 767 US Route 7 S Bennington, Vermont.
Bentley was taken into custody without incident.
