The search for a new police chief in Lanesborough is on hold until the new coronavirus pandemic is over.

The Berkshire Eagle reports that the town’s select board has suspended the search for Timothy Sorrell’s successor as the town’s current police chief has decided to delay his retirement and remain on the job to help see the town through the global health crisis.

Sorrell submitted his letter of resignation to the Select Board back in January.

On Tuesday, the Select Board filled the final spot on the five-person police chief search committee, which will now be put on hold.
