UPDATE Main Break on Main Street in North Adams This Morning

A water main break on Main St. North Adams this morning is resulting in water woes and a traffic detour, continuing into the evening.

As of 11 A.M. crews are on the scene of a break in a 10-inch main on the south side of Main St. just past the American Legion Drive intersection, outside the former Sleepy's store. Water was seen flowing from the break toward that intersection and the corner of Main & State Streets.

Eastbound traffic is being detoured over American Legion Drive. The westbound side of the street was not being affected. BRTA buses are still accessing the Main St. bus shelter via the Steeple City parking lot. Eastbound traffic was being allowed on Main St. from that point. As of 6 P.M. Monday crews were still on the scene and the detour was still in effect.

Water service will be affected in the immediate area of the break, as well as in the upper sections of Main St. until the break is fixed. NAPD will provide updates on their social media pages.
