The chance of winning is slim but that won’t keep lottery hopefuls from laying down their hard-earned cash to hit the second largest Mega Millions jackpot in the history of the game.  Tonight’s jackpot has grown to $850 million after $750 million eluted players last Friday.  Eight players came close matching 5 out of the 6 ping pong balls.  The eight did win $1 million each which is nothing to shake a stick at.

You can win if you don’t play (and who are you kidding, you’re not going to win anyway) but there is a certain rush that comes over you just before you check your ticket against the winning numbers.  If you want a piece of the action buy your $2 ticket before all bets have to be in by 10:45 tonight, in time for the 11pm drawing.

The largest jackpot in Mega Millions history was $1,537 billion won in October of 2018.  That winning ticket was sold in South Carolina.

For the last few weeks on the heels of Mega Millions has been the Powerball jackpot that currently sits at $730 million.  That drawing will be held tomorrow night.  The cash payout is around $546 million if you’d like that in a one-time check.  The deadline to purchase a Powerball ticket is tomorrow night at 9:50 for the 10pm drawing.

Both Powerball and Mega Millions costs $2 per play.  Powerball you choose 5 numbers between 1 and 69 and then choose 1 number as your Powerball with a number range between 1 and 26.  Mega Millions you choose 5 numbers between 1 and 70 and 1 number between 1 and 25 known as the gold Mega Ball.
