A scholarship and golf tournament are being established by the family and friends of fallen Capitol Police Officer Billy Evans according to a post at masslive.com.  The fundraising golf tourney is scheduled for Saturday October 2nd at the Stamford Valley Golf Course in Stamford, Vermont.  To participate you can contact the course at 802-694-9144.  The cost to take part in the Billy Evans Memorial Golf Tournament is $75 per person.

Funds raised will awarded to a Berkshire Country high school seniors through the Billy Evans Memorial Scholarship who reflect strong character, loyalty to friends and family, and commitment to the Clarksburg and Northern Berkshire County community according to the masslive.com report.  All values exhibited by fallen officer Evans.

Evans was killed while on duty at the Capital in April when Noah Green drove his car into Evans and another officer at a barricade protecting the Capital.  Evans died from his injuries.  The other officer was hospitalized but survived the attack.  Green was shot and killed by officers after he exited his car and lunged at police while welding a knife.

Evans was a North Adams native and grew up in Clarksburg.  He was a graduate of Drury High School in 1998 and later attended Western New England University in Springfield.  Evans served with the department for 18-years joining the Capital police in 2002. He was survived by his mother, Janice, and children, Logan and Abigail, his sister, Julie, and countless other family member and friends.
