A man who apparently was shot during an incident on Francis Avenue in Pittsfield on Friday is being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.

The Berkshire Eagle reports that 27-year-old Dane Kessler, of Pittsfield, was arraigned Monday from Berkshire Medical Center, where he was being treated for four gunshot wounds to the back of one leg.

The charges come from an incident that occurred on Friday, June 12 at approximately 12:11 in the afternoon, officers with the Pittsfield Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the area of 150 Francis Avenue.

Witnesses in the area also contacted police. Upon their arrival, officers discovered evidence of a shooting. A loaded firearm was also recovered shortly after the shots were fired.

The preliminary investigation showed that at least two parties were most likely firing at one another. While processing the scene, investigating officers learned that a 26-year-old Pittsfield man had arrived at Berkshire Medical Center with gunshot wounds.
