The North Adams Police Department is currently accepting lateral transfer applications for the position of permanent non-civil service full-time police officer.

Candidates should be of good moral character, not have a criminal or serious motor vehicle record, and be free of disciplinary action by their current or previous agencies.

NAPD is seeking experienced individuals who are highly motivated professionals; possessing strong communication skills, self-discipline, proactivity, are able to multitask, and have a community policing philosophy.

Candidates will have successfully completed a Full-Time Police Academy meeting the same certification requirements as the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. College degree preferred, but not required. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license, complete and pass: an oral interview, an in-depth and comprehensive background investigation, as well as City of North Adams medical, physical ability and psychological evaluations.

Any candidate selected must also complete and pass the Department’s Field Training Program and one-year probationary period.

Starting yearly salary range,as of 09/29/2020 is: $42,219 to $51,354.The North Adams Police Department offers a 4/2 schedule, paid shift differential, education incentive, 75/25 health insurance, personal days, vacation time, as well as other incentives.
