So folks in the south say they have the famous weather groundhog, Buck Eye chuck in Ohio, then you have two in Long Island New York you have Holtsville Hall.( You gotta love those names). There is a Sir Walter Wally in Raliegh NC, in Canada they have Shubenacadie Sam, Wiarton Willie. We also here in the u.s.a have the southern states covered with General Beauregard Lee who resides in Georgia.

On Groundhog day one did not get to make his appearance due to his death right before groundhog day that groundhog was called Milltown Mel, he was one of two groundhogs that make predictions in Long Island new york. Unfortunately for the celebration, they could not find a replacement in time. I wonder if they still had a party.

According to the story, there is only one Phil, and all other groundhogs are impostors. It is claimed that this one groundhog has lived to make weather prognostications since 1886, sustained by drinks of "groundhog punch" or "elixir of life" administered at the annual Groundhog Picnic in the fall.
