In a press release that was issued by the District Attorneys office Yesterday afternoon, Jaden C. Salois, 18, of Dalton, died of a gunshot wound to the torso, according to preliminary results of an autopsy performed Sunday at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Holyoke.

The victim’s identity was not initially released. Dr. Robert Welton, associate medical examiner for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, ruled the death a homicide.

An active investigation into the deadly shooting is being conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department, State Police detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Department and forensic scientists assigned to the State Police Crime Lab.

Pittsfield police have no reason to believe the public faces a threat.
