Onota Lake Water Treatment Next Monday…No Lake Activities Allowed

Onota Lake will be chemically treated with aquatic herbicides next Monday June 8^th according to a press release from the Pittsfield Mayor’s Office.  The herbicides control invasive Eurasian watermilfoil and other nuisance aquatic vegetation according to the release.

The treatment will force the closure of the lake to all water uses, including swimming, fishing and boating on Monday the 8^th.  The lake will reopen for activities on Tuesday morning, June 9^th.  However, the use of lake water for irrigation such as watering lawns, garden, plants of any kind is prohibited for 5 days after Monday’s treatment.
