It will now be at least March until Laura Reilly goes to trial on charges, she lied to police investigating the homicide of Joanne Ringer, more than two years since her March 2017 disappearance.

The Berkshire Eagle reports that newly appointed First Assistant Berkshire District Attorney Karen Bell was recently assigned the case. She told Judge John Agostini on Monday that she will need additional time to get up to speed.

The 44-year-old Reilly, of Easthampton, had been scheduled to begin her trial Tuesday in Berkshire Superior Court before Agostini. Bell and Reilly’s attorney appeared in court Monday to address the request to have the trial date rescheduled.

Misleading a police officer if convicted could carry a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
