Gov. Kathy Hochul has signed an executive order which will dispatch National Guard members to New York state prisons where corrections officers are holding unauthorized strikes. This executive order will guarantee "public order and protection of public property" at all facilities plus will allow for corrections officers who are showing up to work to receive overtime compensation and direct the state corrections department to bring in an independent mediator to help resolve the strike.

At the beginning of March 6th, we learned that Unionized employees at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA) in North Adams, Mass. went on strike indefinitely following the museum’s refusal to meet demands for increased wages. Union members voted 97 percent in favor of the strike.

The BRTA strike has officially come to an end and bus service will return this week.

People in the Berkshires who are used to depending on the bus service to get back and forth to work now are worried about losing their jobs because they can't get to work because of the strike.
