Mazcots Sports Bar in Lenox will soon be Mazzeo’s Imported Market.  The pandemics effect on the hospitality industry if being felt in the Berkshires and throughout the country forcing many restaurant and bar operators to look at re-tooling their businesses.

According to an article posted on The Berkshire Eagle website reporting on the Select Board’s remote meeting last week, the Mazzeo brothers and co-owners Anthony and Michael are repurposing the former sports pub into an imported market.  Mazzeo’s Imported Market will feature a deli, market items, meals-to-go and take-out food featured at both Mazzeo’s Ristorante and the former Mazcots.

The Board also unanimously voted to grant the new venture a wine and malt package store license that will allow for wine and beer sales for home consumption according to the Berkshire Eagle.

The Mazzeo brothers are targeting a mid-October launch following more than $200k worth of renovations to adapt to the new market’s layout.  Anyone traveling through Lenox this summer has probably noticed the recently paved parking lot on the property.

Currently there are no plans for any outside dining space but that may change next spring based on the needs of customers and the current state of the pandemic.  According to officials the town could easily grant permission without an issue.

Competition for hungry Berkshire residents will be heating up this fall when the new Mazzeo’s Imported Market opens.  Guido’ Fresh Marketplace is across the street and is a favorite place to shop for quality food goods in the Berkshires.  Guido’s also carries the Mazzeo name.  Within Guido’s is the home of Mazzeo’s Meat & Seafood.  The owners of the meat and seafood operation are cousins with Mazcot owners Anthony and Michael Mazzeo.  The competition for the tastebuds of local resident could make Thanksgiving dinner a bit more interesting this year.  One thing is for sure...Thanksgiving dinner will be amazing!
